ROLE PURPOSE

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload and delivering high-quality legal advice and services to clients. The role involves working closely with clients, colleagues, and external professionals to ensure matters are progressed efficiently while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client & Legal Advisory

Meeting and interviewing clients to assess the firm’s suitability to provide legal advice and services
Taking client instructions and advising on the legal issues relating to their matter
Providing clear, practical, and commercially focused legal advice
Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and contracts tailored to clients’ individual needs

Case Preparation & Legal Research

Conducting legal research and analysing case law and documentation to support matters
Ensuring the accuracy of legal advice and compliance with relevant procedures
Negotiating with clients, opposing parties, and other professionals to achieve agreed objectives
Preparing matters for hearings, negotiations, or settlement discussions

Client & Matter Management

Coordinating the work of all parties involved in legal matters
Corresponding with clients, opposing solicitors, and third parties
Attending meetings and negotiations with opposing parties where appropriate
Attending court and dealing with court correspondence where required
Arranging and attending further client meetings to progress matters and finalise documentation

Supervision & Professional Development

Supervising and delegating work to trainee solicitors and paralegals where appropriate
Supervising the implementation of legal agreements and documentation
Keeping up to date with developments in the law through journals, law reports, and professional updates
Accurately recording time in accordance with firm procedures

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Excellent IT, verbal, and written communication skills
A high level of accuracy with strong attention to detail
The ability to follow instructions and work methodically
Strong organisational and time management skills
Initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Patience and tact, with the ability to work professionally with clients from a wide range of backgrounds
The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
A clear understanding of confidentiality and professional conduct obligations
