Renewables Specialist
Brighton (Hybrid - Mondays & Thursdays office-based)
Up to £50,000
Would you like to join Hyde as a Renewables Specialist?
We are looking for a technically minded and customer-focused person to help manage Hyde's domestic renewable,
electrical and non-gas heating services across our homes.
This is not a traditional hands-on heating engineer role. You do not need to hold gas, heating, Solar PV or renewable
qualifications to apply. We are interested in people with strong technical judgement, contractor management skills and
experience from backgrounds such as renewable energy, Solar PV, heat pumps, electrical services, building services,
housing maintenance, technical support, installation coordination, repairs delivery or compliance.
You will help us improve service delivery, resolve complex issues, support customers and contribute to cleaner, more
efficient energy solutions across Hyde's homes.
What you'll be doing
- Help plan and deliver servicing, maintenance, remedial works and installations for renewable, electrical and non-gas domestic systems, including Solar PV where applicable.
- Work with contractors to ensure works are completed on time, within budget and to the right quality standards.
- Review surveys, reports, quotations and recommendations, challenging where needed to protect quality and value for money.
- Monitor contractor performance, customer outcomes, compliance, complaints and recurring faults.
- Use data, feedback and operational insight to improve services, reduce avoidable cost and prevent repeat issues.
- Work closely with customers and colleagues to resolve issues and improve resident understanding of systems.
- Visit homes where needed to support diagnosis, gather evidence and provide clear advice on system use and energy efficiency.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation, technology and best practice across renewable energy, Solar PV and low carbon heating.
About you
You will bring a practical technical background, strong communication skills and the confidence to work with contractors,
customers and internal teams to get issues resolved.
Essential experience and skills:
- Experience in technical service delivery, repairs, maintenance, contractor management, project coordination or compliance.
- A practical understanding of renewable energy, Solar PV, heating, electrical, mechanical/building services, housing maintenance or a similar technical environment.
- Ability to interpret technical information, ask the right questions and progress issues to resolution.
- Experience working with contractors or suppliers to manage quality, timescales, cost and customer outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Good organisation, record keeping and confidence using IT systems and performance information.
Desirable, but not essential:
- Experience with Solar PV, heat pumps, electric heating, HIUs, communal heating, solar thermal, MVHR or other low carbon technologies.
- Experience in social housing, property maintenance, asset management, planned works or resident-facing technical services.
- Electrical, Solar PV, heating, plumbing, renewable energy, building services, retrofit, project management or contract management qualifications.
Why join us?
We own and manage 125,000 homes and are driven by a strong social purpose: creating safe, affordable homes and
