We’re looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and confident dog lover to join our growing family-run West Byfleet Dog Boarding & Daycare.
This is a part-time weekend position, ideal for someone looking for regular weekend work alongside college, university, another job or other commitments.
We are looking for someone who can work every other weekend, either:
- Saturday & Sunday, 09:00–17:30, or
- Saturday only, 09:00–17:30, or
- Sunday only, 09:00–17:30
The role is primarily focused on the hands-on care and supervision of our boarding and daycare dogs, along with customer service, cleaning, record keeping and capturing occasional photos and videos for our social media.
Your Role
You'll help with the day-to-day running of our dog boarding and daycare business, including:
- Greeting owners and checking dogs in and out.
- Supervising dogs throughout the day.
- Monitoring behaviour, interactions and general wellbeing.
- Helping with feeding, play, enrichment and daily routines.
- Keeping all dog areas clean, organised and safe.
- Taking photographs and videos of the dogs for owner updates and social media.
- Providing owners with friendly and professional updates.
- Maintaining accurate dog-care and booking records.
- Following our safety procedures and established routines.
- Helping ensure the daycare runs safely and smoothly throughout the weekend.
You Must Be Confident Around Dogs
We care for dogs of different breeds, sizes and personalities, so you need to be genuinely confident, calm and sensible around dogs.
Previous professional experience working with dogs would be a strong advantage, particularly experience within:
- Dog daycare or boarding
- Kennels
- Veterinary practices
- Dog training
- Grooming
- Animal care
However, we're also interested in people studying animal care or similar qualifications who have the right practical experience, confidence and attitude.
Above all, you need to genuinely enjoy working with dogs and understand that this is a hands-on animal-care position, not simply spending the day playing with them.
Social Media & Customer Service
You'll also help us keep owners updated and showcase what's happening at the daycare.
This may include:
- Taking good-quality photos and videos.
- Creating occasional Instagram/Facebook Stories.
- Capturing fun moments throughout the day.
- Responding professionally to customer enquiries.
- Answering WhatsApp messages when required.
- Providing owners with updates about their dogs.
You don't need to be a social media expert, but being comfortable using Instagram, Facebook and your phone to create content would be an advantage.
Who We're Looking For
You'll ideally be:
- A genuine dog lover.
- Confident handling dogs of different sizes and breeds.
- Calm and sensible when supervising groups of dogs.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Friendly and professional with customers.
- Observant and able to recognise changes in a dog's behaviour.
- Comfortable working independently and using your initiative.
- Happy cleaning and maintaining dog areas throughout the day.
- Comfortable using a phone and basic computer systems.
- Able to follow procedures and take responsibility seriously.
Experience or qualifications in Animal Management, Animal Care, Dog Training, Canine Behaviour or a similar field would be particularly welcome.
