Full job description

Job Title:

Shift Leader

Summary:

In this role you will be responsible for leading and managing the production staff through day to day activities. Training and developing production staff (operationally and personally. Ensuring health and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times, reinforcing the organisational safety culture. Reinforcing adherence of the company quality standards. Interacting closely with the Production Manager to execute the agreed production schedule. Work with other departments around site; supply chain, planning, quality, engineering, technical and warehousing etc, to ensure all requirements of production are met. Identify, promote and lead Lean 5s & CI work practices within the production processes. We operate a rotating shift pattern of two weeks on 6am to 2pm followed by two weeks on 2pm - 10pm.

Responsibilities Include:

Organize and prepare jobs for production staff before they arrive on shift.
Ensure that production processes are in line with company set standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain high levels of quality standards and assist with quality control throughout the production facility.
Accurately complete all necessary documentation for regulatory compliance
Responsible for training and inducting any new employees into the team.
Communicate expectations to production team members and evaluate their performance, taking responsibility for the monitoring and reporting of agreed KPI’s via quarterly 1-2-1 meetings.
Implement relevant emergency response procedures in emergency situations.
Ensure Daily inspection list is completed and report any findings to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
Assist in the development and monitoring of production schedules with the planning and logistics department.
Report the need for repair or replacement of faulty production equipment to maintenance department.
Ensure all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly.
Enforce compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures and investigate and report on near misses and accidents.
Completion of production housekeeping.
Give support to projects/groups created to help continuously improve the site.
Update and present GEMBA meetings.
Monitor time, Attendance and plan overtime and holidays for production.
Completion of back to work interviews and any disciplinary procedures alongside HR
Work with other departments around site; supply chain, planning, quality engineering, technical and warehousing etc, to ensure all requirements of production are met.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

Minimum of grade C / 4 in English and math’s
2 years of manufacturing experience in a processing environment
Demonstrable experience of leading a team within a manufacturing environment
IT skills able to use MS applications

The following are preferred for the role

Highly motivated self-starter with 1 years’ experience in a supervisory/team leadership role
Good interpersonal and motivational skills
