Job Title: Level 3 Nursery Practitioner (Room Leader & SENCo Lead)
Location: Greenside Nursery, Culverhouse Road, Luton
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only
Salary: £13.20 per hour + £1,300 per annum SEN uplift (potentially £23740)

About the Role
Greenside Nursery is a large, vibrant early years setting, and we are seeking a passionate and experienced Level 3 Nursery Practitioner to join our team as a Room Leader with additional responsibility as Special Educational Needs (SEN) Lead.

The roles are based in our main room & our baby room, supporting a group of up to 40 children aged 3+ or up to 12 babies, and requires strong leadership, organisation, and a commitment to high-quality early years provision.

Key Responsibilities

Room Leader Duties:

Lead and manage the main room, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children
Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging activities in line with the EYFS framework
Support and mentor room staff, promoting best practice and continuous development
Build strong relationships with parents/carers, providing regular feedback on children’s progress
Maintain accurate records, observations, and assessments

General Responsibilities:

Ensure safeguarding and welfare requirements are always met
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
Contribute to a positive team culture
Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and organisation

SEN Lead Responsibilities:

Act as the setting’s SENCo, supporting children with additional needs
Identify and monitor children requiring additional support and implement appropriate strategies
Work closely with external agencies, professionals, and families
Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or support plans
Ensure inclusive practice is embedded across the setting

Person Specification

Essential:

Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
Experience working in an early years setting
Strong knowledge of EYFS and safeguarding procedures
Experience supporting children with SEN
Excellent communication and leadership skills

Desirable:

Previous Room Leader experience
SENCo training or relevant SEND qualification
Experience liaising with external professionals
