Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Head Sommelier to lead our wine program and elevate the dining experience for our guests. In this dynamic role, you will oversee the wine cellar, curate exceptional wine lists, and provide expert guidance to both staff and patrons. Your passion for hospitality, deep knowledge of wines, and leadership abilities will ensure our guests enjoy memorable moments through perfectly paired wines and outstanding service. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in a vibrant, customer-focused environment.

Duties

Curate and maintain an extensive, diverse wine selection that aligns with the restaurant’s culinary offerings and guest preferences
Lead wine tastings, staff training sessions, and educational events to enhance team knowledge and service quality
Provide personalized wine recommendations to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience
Oversee wine storage, inventory management, and proper handling to maintain quality and safety standards
Collaborate with kitchen and service teams on food and beverage pairing strategies
Ensure compliance with food safety standards related to alcohol handling and storage
Assist with catering events by offering expert wine pairing advice and service support

Experience

Proven experience working in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality environment with a focus on wine service
Strong knowledge of wines, vineyards, tasting techniques, and food pairings
Previous leadership or supervisory experience as a sommelier or in a similar role
Familiarity with food preparation processes, catering services, and restaurant operations
Barista experience is a plus, demonstrating versatility in beverage service
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and engage guests and team members
Commitment to food safety practices and high standards of hospitality excellence

Pay: £25,420.00-£43,369.46 per year
