At Nelipak Elsham, we manufacture high-quality flexible packaging solutions, with a strong focus on the medical packaging industry. We are currently looking for an Extrusion Operator to join our Extrusion Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing operator with good mechanical awareness and a proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
The Role
As an Extrusion Operator, you will operate extrusion equipment to produce blown film safely and efficiently while ensuring all products meet customer and quality specifications.
You will play a key role in maintaining production performance, product quality, and workplace safety within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate extrusion equipment to produce blown film in accordance with specifications.
- Select raw materials and operating supplies in line with production requirements.
- Carry out machine warm-up, set-up, and changeover activities safely and efficiently.
- Perform process inspections and quality checks, reporting results and any concerns to the Team Leader.
- Monitor machine controls and operating parameters to ensure product quality and safe operation.
- Identify and resolve process issues where possible and escalate concerns when required.
- Weigh, record, and palletise finished products in accordance with company procedures.
- Accurately complete production records and data entry within the MII system.
- Deliver film to production areas and return materials to stock as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Empty waste skips and ensure external skips remain covered.
- Support basic preventative maintenance activities by reporting equipment issues promptly.
- Provide Team Leader cover when required.
- Support other departments as required by business needs.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous manufacturing or extrusion experience (preferred).
- Possesses good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Has strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Works safely and follows procedures consistently.
- Is reliable, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Can work confidently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Holds a valid FLT licence (essential).
Shift Pattern
✔ 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern
✔ 2 days / 2 nights
✔ Average 42 hours per week
✔ 1-hour paid break per shift
✔ Regular overtime available, paid at 1.5x
