The Role

We’re looking for a Production Assistant Manager to support our Howden site. This is a development opportunity, offering a clear pathway to Production Manager level.

You’ll play a key role in coordinating day-to-day production activities, leading teams across production and packing areas, and ensuring operations run efficiently to meet business targets.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Planning

Plan and organise shift patterns to meet production demands
Coordinate daily workloads across production, packing, and teams
Monitor materials, stock levels, and production flow to keep operations running smoothly
Manage agency staffing requirements within budget

Leadership & Team Development

Lead and develop the production teams
Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management
Drive a“One Team, One Goal” culture across the site
Support succession planning and team capability development

Health, Safety & Compliance

Promote a strong safety-first culture across all activities
Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work and site procedures
Support audits, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvements
Take responsibility for safe operations during out-of-hours working

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Ensure adherence to quality standards and production processes
Monitor KPIs and production data to drive performance improvements
Support continuous improvement and change initiatives across the site

About You

Experience & Skills

Previous experience managing or leading teams within a production or manufacturing environment
Strong organisational and planning skills in fast-paced settings
Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels
Experience driving performance, continuous improvement, and change
Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships

Mindset & Approach

Safety-first mindset with knowledge of H&S practices
Hands-on leadership style with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
Driven, ambitious, and motivated to progress into a Production Manager role
