Full job description

Senior Structural Steel Detailer / Tekla Draughtsperson

With extensive experience across the structural steel and construction industry, this role requires a highly capable detailer with a strong technical background in Tekla Structures and complex steelwork coordination. The successful individual will play a key role in the delivery of large-scale and technically demanding projects from concept through to fabrication and installation.

Projects are delivered across a broad range of sectors including Commercial, Education, Residential, Retail, Energy, Industrial & Infrastructure, Stadia & Leisure, Healthcare, and Defence. Experience working within fast-paced environments and on architecturally challenging developments would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce and manage detailed 3D Tekla models for structural steelwork projects from initial engineering information through to final issue for fabrication and erection.
Generate high-quality GA drawings, assembly drawings, single part drawings, NC data, and full fabrication packages in line with project specifications and programme requirements.
Coordinate directly with engineers, architects, main contractors, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure smooth project delivery.
Attend design coordination meetings and provide technical input throughout all project stages.
Identify clashes, discrepancies, or missing information and raise RFIs/TQs where required.
Work independently to prioritise workloads and manage multiple live projects simultaneously.
Support fabrication and site teams with technical queries during manufacture and erection phases.
Ensure all detailing work complies with company QA systems, industry standards, and project-specific requirements.
Assist in mentoring junior detailers and apprentices, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
Maintain strong working relationships with clients and project teams to support repeat business and successful project outcomes.

Ideal Experience & Background:

Significant experience within the structural steelwork industry, ideally on large-scale or technically complex projects.
Advanced working knowledge of Tekla Structures with the ability to model accurately and efficiently.
Strong understanding of steel fabrication methods, connection detailing, erection sequencing, and construction processes.
Experience working on commercial high-rise developments, industrial facilities, energy sector projects, logistics hubs, stadia, or infrastructure schemes would be beneficial.
Ability to work within demanding project programmes, including phased deliveries and live construction environments.
Understanding of UK steelwork standards, fabrication tolerances, and industry regulations.
Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to liaise confidently with multidisciplinary teams.

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
