About the Role
Witt Group – Fan Systems is looking for an experienced Laser Operator to join our production team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality components to specification. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
You will work closely with the wider production team to meet production targets, maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement across the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
As a Laser Operator, your main responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and operating laser cutting machines in line with job specifications and production requirements.
- Loading and securing materials, including metal sheets, ready for cutting.
- Adjusting laser parameters such as power, speed and focus to achieve accurate and efficient results.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, CAD files and job instructions.
- Checking dimensions, tolerances and material types before starting each job.
- Monitoring the laser cutting process to ensure quality, accuracy and consistency.
- Inspecting finished parts and making adjustments where required.
- Identifying and reporting any errors, imperfections or production issues.
- Carrying out routine machine maintenance, including cleaning lenses, checking coolant levels and replacing worn parts.
- Troubleshooting minor mechanical or programming issues.
- Working with the maintenance team on more complex repairs and planned maintenance.
- Following all health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Keeping the work area clean, organised and free from hazards.
- Supporting process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste and improve machine performance.
- Working collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines and performance targets.

About You
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical and detail-focused, with a strong understanding of laser cutting operations.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Laser Operator or in a similar manufacturing or industrial role.
- Knowledge of laser cutting machinery and processes..
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A positive, can-do attitude and a dependable approach to work.
Experience Required
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Laser Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience working with laser cutting equipment.
- Experience in a production or fabrication environment would be advantageous.
