Full job description

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and confident Part-Time Front of House Shift Leader to support the daily running of our busy and vibrant café. This is a hands-on role combining leadership, customer service and barista work, ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

You will play a key role in ensuring smooth service, supporting and managing the team, and maintaining high standards across both service and food quality.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise front of house team members during shifts to ensure excellent customer service and efficient operations
Open and/or close the café as a key holder
Support smooth service flow, including managing seating, walk-ins and busy periods
Make high-quality drinks as a barista and assist with general food service when required
Maintain consistent standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation across the café
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints in a professional and positive manner
Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and smooth communication
Support stock management, including monitoring supplies and assisting with orders where needed
Work closely with the owner for daily updates, planning and operational improvements
Assist with training and supporting junior team members to build a strong, positive team culture

About You

Positive, confident and calm under pressure
Strong leadership and team management skills
Friendly, approachable and customer-focused
Highly organised with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
Reliable and trustworthy, with key holder responsibility
Strong communication skills
Previous experience in hospitality, café or restaurant environments is desirable
Barista experience is essential – further training will also be provided
