Job Overview
We need someone who understands content marketing inside out and can use that knowledge to lead strategy, own client relationships and hold the editorial line across our B2B client base. This is a service lead role, sitting alongside our SEO & PPC Lead as one of two people who own content and SEO delivery for the agency.
You will not be writing everything from a blank page. Priority Pixels has built AI-powered content workflows that handle the heavy lifting of audits, ideation, drafting, optimisation and reporting. Your job is to configure those workflows for each client, apply editorial judgement to what they produce, lift every piece to agency standard and be the person our clients trust with their brand voice.
If you can read a content audit and know what actually matters, take an AI-drafted article and make it genuinely good, calibrate a brand voice so it sounds like the client and not like a machine, and explain it all clearly to a client on a call, keep reading.
What You'll Actually Do
You will be the strategic owner of all content marketing delivery across our client base. That means:
Client Ownership
- Acting as the primary content contact for every client receiving content marketing services
- Leading content strategy conversations, client calls and quarterly reviews
- Translating client business goals into content plans that tie to measurable outcomes
- Reporting on content performance against organic traffic, rankings, AI search visibility, engagement and lead generation
Service Delivery
- Owning delivery of all content audits, identifying content gaps, quality issues, cannibalisation, AI search readiness and prioritised actions
- Owning delivery of all content creation, covering website copy, landing pages, blog articles, case studies, whitepapers and supporting visuals
- Owning delivery of all content optimisation, covering on-page refinement, internal linking, schema structuring and AI search formatting
- Quality checking every piece of content before it reaches a client
AI Workflow Ownership
- Running the content onboarding workflow chain for each new client: the Pre-Client Pitch and Proposal Process, the New Client Kickoff and Access Checklist, Brand Voice Calibration, then Per-Client AI Workflow Configuration
- Configuring the per-client AI content workflows using brand voice, sector terminology, service positioning and SEO targets
- Maintaining and refining workflows as client needs and platform capabilities evolve
- Applying editorial judgement to AI outputs, ensuring accuracy, brand alignment, factual integrity and sector credibility
- Developing new workflows in response to emerging needs across audits, creation and optimisation
Editorial and Brand Voice
- Maintaining brand voice consistency across every client's content output
- Conducting brand voice calibration sessions with new clients and periodically with existing ones
- Acting as internal custodian of the shared Brand Foundation library, including the Identity & Positioning and Content Rules documents
- Ensuring every published piece complies with the Priority Pixels Content Rules and British English conventions
- Holding the line on editorial standards when client preferences and best practice conflict
Content Strategy Development
- Developing content strategies based on audit findings, keyword research, competitor analysis and commercial objectives
- Mapping content to buyer journey stages, intent categories and sector-specific decision-making patterns
- Identifying content gaps and pitching new content initiatives proactively
- Contributing content-led recommendations to client QBRs and strategic reviews
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Working closely with the SEO & PPC Lead to align content with search and paid media objectives
- Coordinating with designers, developers and video producers when content delivery requires their input
- Supporting new business development with content audits, proposal input and capability demonstrations
- Contributing to Priority Pixels' own content marketing output where appropriate
The AI workflows handle the heavy lifting, the research, the structured audits, the first drafts. You provide the editorial judgement, the client relationship and the quality control that AI cannot.
What You Need to Understand
You do not need to do all of this manually every day, but you need to understand it deeply enough to lead it, question it and make decisions about it:
- Content strategy across audit, creation and optimisation disciplines
- SEO fundamentals including keyword research, on-page optimisation, internal linking and content structure
- AI-era search visibility including GEO, AEO and structuring content for citation by large language models
- Brand voice analysis and calibration across multiple sectors and tone profiles
- Content performance measurement through GA4, Google Search Console and SEO platforms such as SEMrush
- Editorial standards including British English conventions and the Priority Pixels Content Rules
- How B2B buying decisions work in regulated sectors including technology, healthcare, maritime, logistics, construction and public sector
- How agency workflows connect content, design, development and search
What You Need to Be
- A confident client communicator who can lead content strategy discussions and present performance data clearly
- An editor and quality controller, not just a writer. Someone who applies judgement to AI-assisted content and lifts it to agency standard
- Comfortable owning delivery for multiple clients at once, with strong workload prioritisation
- Naturally curious about AI tools and able to use them critically, neither dismissively nor credulously
- Detail-oriented on editorial standards and brand voice consistency
- Commercially minded, understanding that content serves business outcomes rather than existing for its own sake
- Proactive in identifying content opportunities before clients ask
- Able to work autonomously while contributing to the wider team
Where This Role Sits
The Content Lead is a strategic service owner position and one of two service leads in the agency, alongside the SEO & PPC Lead. Both roles report into the leadership team and operate as peers. The Content Lead does not currently have direct reports. Future growth may include a Content Executive or Junior Copywriter reporting into the Content Lead as client volume increases.
Development Path
The natural progression from Content Lead is into Content Manager or Head of Content as the content function expands. This would involve line management of additional content team members and broader departmental ownership. Progression depends on business need, personal readiness and demonstrated performance against role objectives.
What We Offer
- £35,000 - 40,000 salary, reviewed annually with clear development milestones
- Four-day week or one work-from-home day each week, your choice
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Company pension
- Free on-site parking at our Newton Abbot office
- A forward-thinking agency that has invested heavily in AI-powered delivery, so you work with tools and workflows most agencies will not have for years
- A team that values long-term delivery, clarity and doing good work
