Full job description

Overview
We are seeking an AAT Level 4 qualified Accounts Assistant to join our small general practice . The successful candidate will have at least 3 years working experience in general practice with the ability to be able to complete a job with minimal supervision. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career within a small, busy office, working with a variety of accounting software and systems. This role is contracted for 20 hours weekly, with scope for extra hours if required, working within a professional environment that emphasises detail and organisational excellence. Once you’re settled, we provide flexible working arrangements, enabling remote work for a portion of your hours while ensuring essential on-site presence.

Duties

Assisting with financial and management accounts preparation for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
Assisting with the preparation of personal and business tax returns
Perform data entry tasks related to financial records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Prepare weekly and monthly payroll runs
Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
Assist with general administrative duties related to financial operations as required

Skills

Good IT experience including use of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel
Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently within deadlines while maintaining accuracy
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients
Proven experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero or Quickbooks is desirable
