Self-Employed Courier – Job Description

A self-employed courier is responsible for collecting, transporting, and delivering parcels, packages, and documents safely and efficiently to customers and businesses. The role requires excellent time management, organisation, and communication skills to ensure deliveries are completed within agreed timeframes while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key responsibilities include planning delivery routes, loading and unloading parcels, ensuring items are delivered securely, and obtaining proof of delivery where required. A self-employed courier must also maintain their own vehicle, manage fuel and travel expenses, and ensure all deliveries comply with road safety regulations and company procedures.

The role involves working independently, managing daily schedules, and adapting to changing delivery demands. Strong problem-solving skills are important when dealing with delays, traffic, or customer queries. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work under pressure are essential qualities within this role.

Typical Duties

Collecting and delivering parcels to residential and commercial addresses
Planning efficient delivery routes

Handling parcels carefully and securely
Managing vehicle maintenance and cleanliness

Requirements

Full UK driving licence
Legal right to work in the UK on a self-employed basis
