Full job description

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused HR & Payroll Assitant to join our team. This is a varied role combining HR support with payroll responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas and being a key part of the employee experience.

You’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day HR function while ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time.

Key ResponsibilitiesHR Administration

Provide administrative support across the full employee lifecycle
Maintain and update employee records in line with GDPR requirements
Support recruitment activities including posting adverts, screening CVs, and scheduling interviews
Assist with onboarding and induction of new starters
Prepare contracts, offer letters, and HR documentation
Handle employee queries in a professional and timely manner
Support absence tracking and general HR processes

Payroll Support

Process monthly payroll accurately and within deadlines
Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations
Manage payroll changes including starters, leavers, and salary adjustments
Process statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
Resolve payroll queries and discrepancies
Liaise with finance and external payroll providers where required

About You

Previous experience in an HR administration and/or payroll role
Working knowledge of UK employment law and payroll processes
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Highly organised with good time management skills
Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

Experience with payroll or HR systems (e.g. Sage, ADP, or similar)
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
