People Recruitment Assistant

Job Details

Job Title: People Recruitment Assistant
Reports to: Head of HR
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (30-minute lunch break)
Salary: From £27,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Location: Head Office, Northampton, with regular travel to sites across the surrounding counties.

Please note: This position is subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check following a successful application.

About the Role

This role is primarily focused on supporting the end-to-end recruitment process, helping to attract, recruit and retain talented people across our businesses. Working closely with hiring managers and the Head of HR, you will ensure candidates receive a positive experience while supporting a range of people-related administrative and compliance activities.

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinating recruitment campaigns, advertising vacancies and managing candidate applications.
Scheduling interviews and liaising with candidates and hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
Supporting onboarding and pre-employment checks, including right to work, DBS and employment screening.
Maintaining accurate recruitment records, HR systems and employee databases.
Assisting with immigration and right to work compliance.
Supporting employee retention initiatives and people-related projects.
Assisting with absence and performance management administration.
Acting as a first point of contact for People and recruitment enquiries, responding where appropriate and escalating more complex matters to the Head of HR.
Supporting compliance with employment legislation, company policies and data protection requirements.
Assisting with wider People and HR activities as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about people and recruitment, enjoys building relationships, and has excellent organisational skills.

You will have:

Experience in recruitment, HR administration or a similar people-focused role.
A good understanding of recruitment processes and employment legislation (or a willingness to develop this knowledge).
HR or People-related qualifications (CIPD Level 3 or above) are desirable but not essential.
Experience maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR or recruitment systems.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities.
A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as regular travel between sites is required.
