Full job description

Part-Time Receptionist / Patient Administrator

Permanent Contract | 25 hours per week
Busy Village GP Surgery

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and organised Part-Time Receptionist to join our expanding Patient Administration Team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, patient‑focused environment at the heart of our local community.

Pay & Contract

£12.74 per hour
Permanent contract

Working Hours

Hours to be confirmed
Will include two evening shifts per week, working from 1:30pm until the practice closes
Latest closing time is usually 6:45pm, however this may be later on occasions where patients are still being seen by a member of the clinical team
Flexibility required to provide holiday and sickness cover for colleagues

Role Summary

As a key front‑line member of the practice, you will play an essential role in ensuring patients can access the appropriate services and healthcare professionals efficiently and compassionately.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome and assist patients courteously, both in person and via telephone
Signpost patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional
Handle prescription requests and general patient enquiries
Provide administrative support to the wider practice team
Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion at all times
Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health & Safety legislation and practice policies
Report significant events and near misses in accordance with practice policy

About You

Previous reception or administrative experience preferred
Hospitality or other customer‑facing experience is highly desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confident using office systems, software, and standard office equipment
Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail
Ability to multitask, prioritise workload, and remain calm in a busy environment
A positive, flexible, and professional approach to patient care

Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
