As our centre continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated and experienced instructor to help lead the riding school forward towards:
- BHS Approval and Registration
- Delivery of BHS training pathways and examinations
- Expansion of our riding school programme
- Future integration within our wider educational and therapeutic provision
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to grow with an ambitious and developing centre.
The Role
We are seeking a self-employed riding instructor initially working:
with the potential to progress into a full-time Riding School Manager position (40 hours per week) as the centre develops and achieves further registration and expansion.
The successful candidate will play a key role in:
- Developing lesson programmes
- Supporting rider progression
- Preparing the centre towards BHS approval
- Building training and examination opportunities
- Helping shape the future of the riding school
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, engaging and progressive riding lessons
- Support riders of varying ages and abilities
- Develop structured rider pathways and progression routes
- Assist in preparing the centre for BHS registration and inspections
- Support implementation of BHS training and exam programmes
- Promote high standards of horse welfare and stable management
- Work alongside existing staff and volunteers positively and professionally
- Support inclusive riding opportunities and adapt sessions to individual needs
- Maintain accurate records using our electronic booking and management system
- Contribute ideas to grow and strengthen the riding school provision
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum BHS Level 3 qualification (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel independently
- Have experience teaching riders of mixed abilities
- Be confident working within a busy riding school environment
- Have strong communication and organisational skills
- Share our values of inclusion, acceptance and safety
- Be passionate about developing riders and supporting young people
Desirable Skills
It would be beneficial if applicants also have:
- Experience working towards or within BHS Approved Centres
- Experience preparing riders for exams, rosettes or competitions
- Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Experience supporting volunteers or junior staff
- Interest in progressing into leadership or management roles
