Job Description – Pipefitter / Pipe Welder
We are seeking skilled and motivated Pipefitters and Pipe Welders to join our Structural, Mechanical and Pipework Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for time-served tradespeople looking to work on a variety of industrial and engineering projects within a growing and professional organisation.
The successful candidates will be involved in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of pipework systems, working from engineering drawings and specifications to deliver high-quality workmanship. Whether your primary trade is pipefitting or pipe welding, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair industrial pipework systems.
- Measure, mark out, cut, prepare, and fit pipework, valves, flanges, and associated fittings.
- Carry out pipe welding activities to approved procedures and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, and technical specifications.
- Fabricate pipework assemblies and supporting structures as required.
- Perform equipment installation and assist with commissioning activities.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with project and quality requirements.
- Identify and rectify faults within pipework systems and equipment.
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all company and site safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and fellow tradespeople to achieve project objectives.
Essential Requirements
- Recognised trade qualification in Pipefitting, Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in industrial pipework installation, fabrication, or welding.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Relevant welding qualifications/coding certifications.
- Experience within heavy engineering, process, manufacturing, energy, or industrial environments.
