Main Purpose of the Job:

Ensure all school safeguarding procedures are adhered to.
- Assist the Assistant Head for Sixth Form to ensure the UCAS process, from enquiry to application to offer, is streamlined and efficient. Work with students to allow for excellent outcomes.
- Assist the Assistant Head for Sixth Form with managing our Oxbridge applications and programme
Responsibilities & Duties:

To support Sixth Form students with their online UCAS application, ensuring that it is completed accurately and in good time
- To respond quickly to all directions from the Assistant Head for Sixth Form and Heads of Years 12 and 13.
- To keep careful records and liaise closely with the Sixth Form Team on the UCAS application progress.
- To ensure that appointments are made throughout the day with high priority students, ensuring they are ready to send off their application.
- To be persistent in tracking down elusive students, by visiting lessons and tutor periods when necessary.
- Coordinating the Oxbridge application process, including timelines, key deadlines, and communication with students, parents, and staff
- Organising admissions interviews, preparation sessions, and external opportunities, ensuring students are appropriately entered and informed
- Supporting students with the practical elements of applications (e.g. UCAS completion, test registration), and signposting academic support where needed
- Maintaining accurate records of applicants, progress, and outcomes, and liaising with Sixth Form leaders and subject staff
- To support Sixth Form students to consider their options for university, employment and further education on leaving school.
- To help students narrow down their choices, ensuring that the opportunities they apply for are realistic based on their academic progress.
- To encourage young people to make choices that are based on first-hand knowledge and experience through visits to universities.
- To advise students on the steps on the UCAS card, ensuring that they follow these systematically and understand the UCAS process.
- To advise students to seek support from their Tutor and subject specialists to ensure their Personal Statement is of the highest quality.
- To complete any additional administrative tasks as determined by the Sixth Form team.
- To assist the Careers Lead when required.
