The Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant or Research Fellow to contribute to applied and methodological research in the economic evaluation of health technologies. The successful candidate will work on the design, implementation, and analysis of economic evaluations based on evidence synthesis and decision analytic modelling. The post will suit a candidate whose key interests include decision analytic modelling, and statistical analysis and evidence synthesis methods aligned to the conduct of economic evaluation.
The successful candidate will contribute to our Assessment of Technologies research theme and will work closely with experienced researchers from HERU and the Institute of Applied Health Sciences on several multidisciplinary research projects. You will contribute to our work supporting the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) through Technology Assessment Reviews (TARs) —helping to inform national healthcare policy. The post offers a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of health economics and decision analytic modelling, working as part of a dynamic team at the forefront of health economics research.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or a Research Fellow in Health Economics for a period of 12 months. Individuals with an MSc in health economics, statistics, operations research, or closely related quantitative discipline are encouraged to apply. Appointees at Research Fellow level will also be expected to have a PhD in health economics or a related quantitative discipline, or an MSc plus equivalent level of relevant research experience.

For appointment as a Research Assistant, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale (£33,002 - £36,636 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
For appointment as a Research Fellow, salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£37,784- £46,049 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
For appointment as a Research Fellow, the role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route under the UKVI immigration rules but is dependent on factors specific to the candidate and if tradeable points can be used under the rules.
