Estate Services – Maintenance Operations
This full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.
The starting salary will be from £28,029 to £30,339 on Grade C, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
Summary of the role
An opportunity has arisen for a Semi-Skilled Building Maintenance Operative based on the Streatham Campus. This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to join a small team of operatives supplying a high level of service. This full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Structural Team Leader, you will be a member of the operational team working alongside other maintenance operatives in the Electrical, Mechanical & Structural Services teams. Estate Services is responsible for the planning, safety, provision, adaptation and maintenance of buildings, grounds and associated services and for the development and maintenance of the University’s estate.
The main responsibilities of the role are gutter and gully maintenance, footpath maintenance, scaffolding tower supply and installation and when required to carry out other tasks such as installation of fixtures and fittings. When required, in house and task-based training will be offered. The operative will be working within our Grounds, Academic, Research and Residential properties ensuring our compliance and safety. Please note that a valid UK driving license will be essential (ability to drive vans), due to the requirements of the post.
We are looking for a customer focused team player who can work alone or in a team and be able to use initiative to prioritise work demands and meet deadlines. Having prior experience or qualifications in structural works would be advantageous, you will have a starter/finisher mentality and methodical approach to work, as well as an understanding of all relevant health and safety legislation that accompanies these tasks.
