Full job description

Job Summary:

A pivotal role within the J. Parker’s group, our Garden Centre Assistants play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining plant health, and ensuring the garden centre is clean, organised, and welcoming.

Key responsibilities:

· Greet and assist customers with plant selection, gardening advice, and product information

· Maintain the health and presentation of plants through watering, pruning, and pest control

· Restock shelves and displays, ensuring products are well-presented and priced correctly

· Operate tills and handle customer transactions accurately

· Assist with deliveries, including unloading and organizing stock

· Keep the garden centre clean, tidy, and safe for customers and staff

· Support seasonal promotions and events

Personal Specification:

This role requires:

A passion for plants, gardening, and the outdoors
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Ability to build rapport and maintain trusting relationships with customers and colleagues

Physically fit and able to lift heavy items and work outdoors in all weather
Willingness to work weekends and bank holidays as required

· Have an approachable, positive and proactive manner

Desirable, but not mandatory skills include:

Previous retail or horticultural experience

Pay: £12.77 per hour
