Job Overview
We have a vacancy for the role of Treatment Operator based at Meadowhead WwTW. Reporting to the Team Leader you will be responsible for monitoring and optimising the treatment processes associated with an automated wastewater treatment works.
Working as part of a small and dedicated team you will monitor and control the wastewater treatment process in order to meet the required environmental and business targets. You will also carry out the initial investigation and rectification works, implement safe bypass or shut down of plant in advance of repairs by the maintenance team, in line with current Health and Safety Legislation.
Although not necessary a qualification in an engineering, science or process discipline is desirable. You should have a positive attitude, keen eye for detail, flexible approach and a willingness to learn new skills are essential
Duties
- Monitor and operate wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical dosing systems
- Conduct regular inspections of treatment processes and equipment to identify any malfunctions or inefficiencies
- Collect and analyse water samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Perform first line maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical components within the treatment plant
- Record operational data accurately and complete log sheets for regulatory authorities
- Assist with the calibration of instrumentation
- Ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times during operations
Skills
- Live within easy travelling distance of Meadowhead WwTW & STC
- Work outdoors, work in a physically demanding environment and work with untreated wastewater and sludges
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in monitoring processes and recording data
- Have good IT skills
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a team environment
- Have a full driving licence
- Participate in out of hours call out when required
- Basic understanding of environmental regulations related to wastewater management
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training to stay updated on industry standards and safety protocols
Normal hours of work are 0800-1630 Monday to Thursday. 0800-1530 Friday, based on a 39-hour week. However, this may vary from time to time dependent on the needs of the business.
