Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled QC Microbiologist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the microbiological quality and safety of our products through rigorous testing and analysis and compliance with customer & regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of products, componentry and environmental samples using microbiological, wet chemical & instrumental techniques to approved procedures and within requisite timescales.
- Liaison with other departmental members to determine work schedules and priorities.
- Work with the Industrial hygienist to lead the development of new analytical methods.
- Work with the Industrial hygienist to develop validation protocols carry out validation studies.
- Prepare and quality check all media and test reagents in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines.
- Maintain all microbiological laboratory cleaning schedules in accordance with the laboratory work instructions and accreditation standards.
- Work with the Industrial Hygienist to lead investigation of microbiological OOS results.
- Carry out factory hygiene monitoring.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven laboratory experience in microbiology or scientific research environments.
- Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and microbiological analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in microscopy, data analysis skills, and familiarity with programming languages such as R, Python, and MATLAB.
- Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data interpretation.
- Experience working with laboratory instruments and maintaining quality standards in a regulated setting is preferred.
- Effective organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. - Calibration of all equipment (including when external agents are required) within the required timescales in accordance with approved calibration procedures
- Provide training for micro lab technicians as required.
- Ensure operational compliance with procedure manuals
- Release or rejection of stock based on microbiological results.
- Maintaining reagent & equipment stocks
- Contact suppliers to negotiate consumable pricing and source new items.
- Organise and lead external & internal proficiency testing
- Preparation of Certificates of Analysis
- Preparation of Customer samples
- Sending Analytical results as required
- Update customer specific methods to comply with their requirements
- Investigate and provide reports for customer complaints
- Review procedures & working practices and research & introduce improvements where appropriate
- Preparation of statistical data
- Sample collection
- Relief cover for QC laboratory as required
- Daily prioritisation of samples and tasks to meet factory needs.
- Initiate re-sampling and re-testing where necessary
- Prepare consumable orders to maintain minimum stock levels.
- Contact suppliers to negotiate consumable pricing and source new items.
- Inform relevant internal departments about satisfactory and unsatisfactory test results.
Competencies
- Experienced Micro lab Technician.
- Good level of education particularly in science related subjects e.g. Degree level

Pay: £27,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
