About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary service.
This role involves delivering evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to children and young people presenting with a variety of developmental, sensory, emotional regulation, and functional difficulties across clinic, school, and home environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in assessment, intervention planning, EHCP support, report writing, and collaborative multidisciplinary working to achieve meaningful outcomes for children and families.
This role would particularly suit a therapist who is passionate about neurodiversity-affirming practice, inclusion, advocacy, and reducing barriers to accessing therapy services within diverse communities.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including:
- Functional assessments
- Sensory processing assessments
- Developmental assessments
- Deliver individualised intervention programmes tailored to each child’s needs
- Support children presenting with:
- Sensory processing differences
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Developmental coordination difficulties
- Emotional regulation difficulties and anxiety
- Deliver sensory integration-informed practice where appropriate
- Run 1:1 therapy sessions and small group interventions
- Monitor progress and adapt interventions accordingly
Education & School-Based Work
- Carry out school observations and provide practical, child-centred recommendations
- Develop and implement OT programmes for classroom staff
- Work collaboratively with:
- SENCOs
- Teachers
- Teaching Assistants
- External professionals
- Contribute to:
- EHCP assessments
- Annual reviews
- Tribunal-level reports and recommendations
Reports & Documentation
- Produce high-quality professional documentation including:
- OT assessment reports
- EHCP advice
- Progress reports
- Therapy programmes
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC standards and GDPR requirements
Family & Multi-Disciplinary Working
- Provide guidance, education, and support to parents/carers
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including:
- Speech & Language Therapists
- Educational Psychologists
- Schools and Local Authorities
- Deliver practical strategies and parent training to support carryover at home
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Experience working with children and young people
- Strong understanding of:
- Sensory processing
- Neurodevelopmental conditions
- Emotional regulation
- Excellent clinical reasoning and report writing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Postgraduate training in Sensory Integration
- Experience with EHCP processes and tribunal-level reporting
- Experience in private practice and/or school-based settings
- Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities
- Additional languages spoken are highly valued
