On Track Education provides specialist education for young people with diverse and complex needs. Established in 2004 by a dedicated team of Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers, we now operate nine independent schools across England. At the heart of our philosophy is a commitment to providing a nurturing, personalised, and needs-led educational experience, aiming to restore young people’s self-confidence and self-motivation through flexible programmes that combine academic, vocational, and outdoor learning opportunities.

On Track totnes

On Track Education Totnes is a DfE-registered co-educational day school which provides specialist education for pupils aged 11-19 years across two well-equipped sites in South Devon and Outreach. Designed for students with a range of special educational needs, the school delivers small group and one-to-one learning within a nurturing, therapeutic environment. Its broad and balanced curriculum is underpinned by the principles of THRIVE® and tailored to develop emotional well-being, resilience and real-world skills. With strong, supportive relationships between staff and pupils, On Track Totnes helps every young person to thrive, both in learning and in life.

The role

This is a rewarding role focused on providing personalised support to help young people re-engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential. Key responsibilities include:

Providing tailored support and supervision for pupils aged 11–19, encouraging active engagement in learning and helping them work towards agreed goals and objectives
Planning and delivering elements of learning or intervention programmes that support pupils’ individual progress
Working both 1:1 and in small groups as part of a collaborative, professional team, supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development of each young person
Leading intervention sessions on a 1:1 basis, delivered both on-site and off-site, to address specific pupil needs and support their re-engagement with education

About you

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people with additional needs. Ideally, you will have:

Experience working with children or young people and a genuine passion for supporting their development
A motivation to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential

Confidence in managing behaviour positively and calmly, even in challenging situations

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and in person with pupils, colleagues, and families
A good general level of education, including GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths, and IT proficiency
The role involves transporting pupils, so you’ll need a full driving licence and

access to your own vehicle, insured for business use
