We are looking to recruit a Parts/Stores Person to work at our Head Office in Shropham.
Job Purpose:
The Parts/ Stores Person will be responsible for managing the storage and distribution of parts for our engineers, as well as handling the procurement of necessary parts for transport, engineering, and other business functions. The role will ensure the stores department is well-organised, efficiently stocked, and fully supports the company's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock Management:
- Assist in maintaining accurate stock levels of parts and materials for engineering, transport, and other departments across four depots.
- Receive, inspect, and organise incoming deliveries.
- Record stock movements and ensure all items are correctly logged in the inventory system.
- Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Procurement:
- Liaise with suppliers to source parts, materials, and equipment for engineering, transport, and other areas of the business.
- Negotiate prices and delivery times with suppliers, ensuring cost-effective procurement.
- Raise purchase orders and process invoices in collaboration with the accounts team.
- Parts Distribution:
- Distribute parts and materials to engineers and other departments as required.
- Ensure timely delivery of parts to maintain smooth operational workflow.
- Health & Safety:
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the stores area.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the engineering, transport, and procurement teams to anticipate needs and ensure all departments are adequately stocked with the necessary parts and materials.
- Support the existing Stores Person in their duties when required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar stores or procurement role, preferably within a plant hire or agricultural or motor industry environment.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with stock management systems and procurement processes.
- Ability to lift and move heavy parts and materials when required.
- Basic IT skills for data entry and using inventory systems.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of plant machinery and parts.
- Forklift licence or willingness to obtain one.
