Alfrecell is an end-to-end polyurethane foam producer and converter of a range of high-quality polyurethane (PU) comfort foams for the Bedding, Furniture, Leisure, and Healthcare industries
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our SHEQ team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our products consistently meet the highest quality, safety and regulatory standards.
Working across two manufacturing sites in Alfreton, you'll support production teams, investigate quality issues, conduct audits, drive continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and SATRA accredited laboratory standards as part of our business wide integrated management system.

Hours of work – currently 29 hours per week, Monday to Thursday (generally 8am - 4pm), however flexibility will be required on occasion to meet the needs of the business. It is anticipated that hours of work could increase to 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, generally 8am - 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am - 2.45pm on Fridays from January 2027 onwards.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Quality Technician, you'll:
- Carry out internal quality audits across manufacturing, laboratory and management systems.
- Inspect and sample products to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Support customer, supplier and certification audits.
- Investigate product defects, non-conformances and customer complaints using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D and 5 Why.
- Raise and manage corrective actions, monitoring progress through to completion.
- Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports and KPI data.
- Support supplier quality activities and incoming goods inspections.
- Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI), PPAP, APQP and process validation activities.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing waste and improving quality performance.
- Help develop procedures, work instructions and quality documentation.
- Promote a positive quality culture by supporting and coaching colleagues across the business.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience within a Quality, Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification/training.
- Experience supporting internal, customer and supplier audits.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- HNC or equivalent in Engineering or Manufacturing.
- Lean Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement training.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP and process capability studies.
- Experience within a testing laboratory or R&D environment.
- CQI membership.
- Knowledge of REACH, RoHS, POPs, Biocidal and Product Safety Regulations.
- Experience with measurement systems and calibration.
