Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Ground Maintenance Operative to join a small team that’s expanding. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and functional. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for horticulture, gardening tasks to develop their skills within a professional environment. Prior experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Duties

Conduct routine landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, weeding, and planting
Operate power tools such as trimmers, blowers, and lawn mowers to maintain grounds
Use hand tools for planting, digging, and general maintenance tasks
Operate machinery
Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on equipment and machinery
Maintain cleanliness and safety of work sites by clearing debris and ensuring proper storage of tools
Support construction or renovation projects related to outdoor spaces as require

Requirements

A full driving license is essential due to the nature of the job
candidate has to be over the age of 25 years for insurance purposes
Experience or knowledge in landscape/grounds maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is preferred
Mechanical knowledge related to power tools and small machinery is advantageous
Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively
Familiarity with operating equipment such as excavators and irrigation systems is desirable
Basic understanding of maintenance procedures for outdoor environments
Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
A valid PERSON (Personal Identification Number) or relevant certification is necessary for certain machinery operation roles
Prior experience in groundskeeping will be considered an asset
