The Opportunity:
TS Metals is seeking a skilled and motivated Laser CAD Designer / Programmer to join our growing team. This role is central to ensuring high standards of workmanship while driving continuous improvement across processes, quality, and delivery.
You will work closely with management and production teams to support both operational performance and commercial success, playing a key role in delivering projects from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of projects and ensure the successful delivery of parts to internal and external customers.
- Develop new and existing business opportunities, generate quotations, and follow up with customers.
- Set up and maintain contract files in accordance with TS Metals procedures.
- Interpret engineering drawings and produce laser cutting programmes.
- Create and issue work instructions to production teams.
- Ensure products are manufactured to customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Manage project changes and variation procedures.
- Enter and monitor time bookings on company systems.
- Attend and manage contract reviews and cost-to-complete forecasts where required.
- Oversee project close-out activities, including analysis, verification, and archiving of documentation.
- Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to ensure effective project delivery.
- Ensure all product documentation is completed accurately prior to shipment.
- Prepare and issue final quality packs to customers when required.
- Deputise for the Laser Operations Manager as needed.
- Drive high standards of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the business.
Your skills and experiences:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong technical capability and a passion for delivering high-quality results.
You will ideally have:
- Experience programming lasers within a laser cutting environment.
- A proven track record in project management.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and issuing engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Strong measurement and dimensional inspection skills.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong reporting and organisational skills.
- The ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A positive, proactive approach with the drive and motivation to succeed.
Desirable
- Knowledge of fabrication and welding processes.
- Willingness to travel within the UK when required.
