Full job description

Kincardine Castle is a privately owned Scottish estate near Aboyne and has been home to the same family for over 130 years. Set within beautiful gardens, woodland and farmland, we are committed to caring for the estate using regenerative land management practices that enhance biodiversity and minimise our environmental impact.

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic experienced gardener to join the estate and help maintain our walled garden and grounds to a high standard.

The Role:

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the maintenance of the castle grounds throughout the year. Duties will include:

Horticultural Knowledge
Growing vegetables
Cultivation of fruit trees
Knowledge of shrub pruning
Maintaining herbaecous borders
Growing organic vegetables
Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
Operating ride-on mowers and towing small trailers
Strimming and edging
Raking and leaf clearance
Weeding and border maintenance
Clearing patches and overgrown areas
General estate and garden maintenance
Seasonal gardening and grounds maintenance tasks
Enjoys working outdoors in all seasons
Is physically fit and happy undertaking manual work
Is reliable, hardworking and dependable
Can work independently, or with occasional help from the estate maintenance team
Takes pride in maintaining high standards Previous gardening and grounds maintenance experience will be required, but we are equally keen to hear from applicants with the majority of the required experience and a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Pay: £27,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
