Workshop Production Worker — Metal & Glass
Caledora — Milton Keynes (MK13) £29,000 starting, with monthly reviews during probation. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
About us
Caledora is a small, family-run workshop producing bespoke shower enclosures and high-end glass products. We're growing, but we've kept the small-team feel — everyone matters, every job matters, and we take real pride in what leaves the workshop.
Our main product is shower glass, but the day-to-day work in the workshop is mostly metalwork — aluminium frame preparation, assembly and finishing — combined with glass.
What you'll be doing
You'll be involved in the full production of framed shower doors, screens and mirror frames, working with both aluminium and glass. It's a varied, multi-task role — you'll move between jobs depending on what's in production rather than doing one thing all day.
The work includes:
- Cutting, drilling and assembling aluminium extrusions
- Fitting glass into frames using silicone mastic
- Aluminium polishing — both before and after EN plating to produce nickel-plated mirror frames. This is a significant part of the role.
- Belt sanding extrusions on our Garboli Duo (mostly load-and-replace once you're shown how)
- Operating small CNC machines to cut notches in aluminium extrusions
- Helping with EN plating when needed — loading parts and moving them between tanks alongside a colleague
- Quality checking, finishing and packing
What we're looking for
We want someone reliable, careful, and proud of doing things properly. Specifically:
- Reliability is non-negotiable. We need someone who turns up every day, on time. If you're the sort to call in late or miss days without proper notice, this isn't the role for you — we'll part ways quickly.
- Strong attention to detail. We don't rush. Every piece is bespoke, and if the quality isn't right, we won't ship it — we redo it. There's no place for "good enough" here.
- Metalwork experience preferred, particularly aluminium or metal polishing. If you've finished metal to a high standard before, that's a genuine plus, and we'd like to hear from you.
- Comfortable with basic hand and power tools (drills, sanders, etc.)
- Willing to learn — we'll train you on our processes and machines
- Good communication and teamwork — it's a small workshop, and we rely on each other
How pay and progression work
The salary starts at £29,000. During your probation, I'll review your progress every month. As your skills improve and you get to know our processes properly, your pay will rise accordingly.
I'd rather invest in someone who's clearly developing than keep someone who isn't — so if it's not working out, on either side, we'll be honest about it early rather than waste each other's time.
What we offer
- Full training on our equipment and processes
- A friendly, supportive small-team environment
- A genuine chance to build real, multi-skilled trade experience in metal and glass
- 28 days of annual leave
- Auto-enrolment pension scheme
