Our JAG accredited Endoscopy service, based at Westmorland General Hospital, is looking to recruit a Band 5 Nurse to join our established, motivated and friendly team. Our Endoscopy services are predominantly nurse led, from admission to discharge. It is therefore essential that our Nursing team are able to demonstrate a high degree of autonomy .
We are a 7 day service and are open from 08:00am - 18:30pm.
Our nurses are trained to assist Surgeons, Gastroenterologists, and Nurse Endoscopists, in a range of specialised procedures. This is supported by a dedicated competency framework, complimented by online learning and guidance from our Endoscopy specific, practice educator team.
There are 4 roles on the department, in which you will be trained in each area as part of your role.
Endoscopy is a great environment to learn new skills, and further your career. Many of our Nurses stay within Gastroenterology and take up specialist roles in Inflammatory Bowel disease, as Nurses Endoscopists and Bowel Cancer Screening Nurses.
The successful applicants will possess excellent communication and documentation skills, should be able to work well within a team, and demonstrate a keen interest in Endoscopy. They will work in close partnership with colleagues to ensure that the unit is compliant with JAG requirements. They will be actively involved in audit and governance to maintain standards.

We operate from three main hospitals-, Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
