About our role:
Reporting into the Curriculum Operations Manager, you will play a key role as an Attendance Monitoring Officer.
The primary duties of this post will include:
- Carrying out daily attendance and punctuality checks each morning, contacting parents/carers via phone or text where students are absent.
- Conducting additional, targeted attendance and punctuality monitoring for identified vulnerable learners, including (but not limited to) Looked After Children, Care Leavers, students in Specialist Provision, and those subject to Child in Need and/or Child Protection Plans.
- Reviewing, analysing, and monitoring absence data throughout the day to identify patterns or concerns, escalating safeguarding issues as appropriate.
- Liaising with external agencies regarding student absences, including Social Care, corporate parents, and the Virtual School for Looked After Children, as required.
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of all communications (calls, letters, emails, and SMS messages) using the College’s information systems.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with students and parents/carers, promoting the importance of consistent attendance and punctuality.

Working with the Safeguarding and Support Team to communicate growing concerns and escalate any high-risk issues.
What we are looking for in our ideal Attendance Monitoring Officer candidate:
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, organised, and capable of managing their own workload within a fast-paced environment. They will demonstrate a high standard of IT proficiency, including experience with spreadsheets, databases, data entry, and problem-solving. Exceptional attention to detail is essential.
The role requires strong written communication and time management skills, along with the ability to perform effectively under pressure. Applicants must hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or an equivalent qualification) and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will be eager to build on their existing administrative experience and further develop their professional skills. This position involves handling confidential and sensitive information, so discretion and professionalism are essential.
