Position: Commis Chef
Location: The Weald of Kent Golf Course & Hotel, Near Headcorn (6 miles south of Maidstone)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £22,568.00- £26,437.00 per annum + gratuities

About Us

The Weald of Kent Golf Course & Hotel is a well-established destination known for its welcoming atmosphere, high-quality service, and picturesque setting. With a thriving restaurant, regular private events, and a variety of functions throughout the year, we are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our professional kitchen team.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will support the delivery of a diverse menu offering, including breakfast, lunch, evening meals, and function catering. Working under the guidance of senior chefs as part of a collaborative team, you will help maintain the high standards our guests expect while developing your culinary skills within a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and assist in cooking a variety of dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
Assist with the preparation and service of meals for our restaurant, hotel guests, and private events
Support senior chefs with daily kitchen operations and food preparation
Ensure all food hygiene and safety standards are consistently met
Collaborate effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
Maintain a clean and organised working environment

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience in a professional kitchen is preferred but not essential
Passion for food and willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and evenings
Access to own transport is essential due to the rural location

Working Hours

Full-time position with 8-hour straight shifts
Example shifts include: 6:30am–2:30pm, 8:00am–4:00pm, 1:00pm–9:00pm
Weekend work required on a rotational basis
