Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our hospitality team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will support the culinary team by ensuring all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment are hygienic and ready for use. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within a professional kitchen setting.

Zero hour contract with typical weekly hours ranging from 0 to 40 hours

Typical shifts are between 12:30 and 22:30 with some variation and flexibility

Responsibilities

Washing, drying, and sanitising dishes, pots, pans, and utensils to ensure cleanliness standards are met
Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas
Organising and storing clean crockery and cutlery in designated areas
Supporting the culinary team with ingredient replenishment and stock organisation
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures efficiently
Supporting the team during busy service periods to ensure smooth operations

Skills

Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen hygiene standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Strong team player with excellent communication skills
Prior experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to food service environments
Willingness to learn new skills and take on various tasks as required
