Job Summary
As a self-employed dog groomer, you will provide professional grooming services to clients’ dogs, ensuring they look and feel their best. This role offers flexibility and independence, allowing you to manage your own schedule while delivering high-quality animal care. A strong understanding of veterinary practices and excellent customer service skills are essential to build trust and rapport with clients. The position involves working with a variety of dog breeds and sizes, maintaining a clean and safe grooming environment, and adhering to industry standards for animal welfare.

Responsibilities

Perform grooming services including bathing, trimming, clipping, and styling according to client specifications
Assess each dog’s health and behaviour to ensure safe handling during grooming procedures
Maintain a clean and hygienic workspace, including sanitising tools and equipment after each use
Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients about grooming needs and aftercare advice
Manage appointments efficiently, ensuring timely service delivery
Handle heavy lifting of dogs or equipment when necessary, with proper safety precautions
Keep detailed records of services provided and client preferences for future reference
Stay updated on grooming techniques, industry trends, and animal care best practices

Qualifications

Previous experience in dog grooming ( level 2 or higher )
Strong animal care knowledge with an understanding of canine behaviour and health considerations
Excellent customer service skills to foster positive relationships with clients
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling larger dogs or equipment
Organised with good time management skills to handle multiple appointments effectively
Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently as a self-employed professional
Relevant certifications or training in pet grooming or animal care are advantageous but not mandatory

This role provides the opportunity to work independently within a flexible schedule while delivering essential grooming services that promote the wellbeing of animals.
