Full job description

Job Overview:

The Composites Project Engineer supports the successful delivery of composite engineering projects from concept through to production. Working closely with the Composite Solutions Manager, this role provides technical, project coordination and client support to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to develop project management and commercial exposure within an SME environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Support & Delivery

Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of composite engineering projects.
Support the preparation of project scopes, timelines, budgets and quotations.
Contribute technical input during design, development and production phases, particularly in pre-preg composite manufacturing.
Liaise with Production to ensure drawings, specifications and manufacturing requirements are clearly understood.
Attend site visits where required to support quality compliance, ISO standards and 5S initiatives.
Track project progress and support reporting on costs, timelines and resource allocation.

Technical & Sales Support

Support pre-sales activities by assisting with technical information, feasibility input and proposal preparation.
Attend client meetings alongside senior team members to gain exposure to customer requirements and solution development.
Help prepare technical presentations, data packs and documentation for clients.
Represent the company at selected tradeshows or networking events when required.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Act as a day-to-day liaison between Engineering, Production, Procurement and Sales to ensure smooth communication.
Support supplier and subcontractor coordination for project-specific requirements.
Assist with procurement documentation and tracking of externally sourced components or services.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute ideas to improve manufacturing efficiency, cost control and project delivery processes.
Support the maintenance of documentation in line with ISO and internal quality systems.
Stay aware of emerging composite technologies and manufacturing techniques.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelor degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

· Practical knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, ideally pre-preg.

· 1–3 years’ experience in an engineering, manufacturing or project support role (desirable but not essential for strong graduates).

· Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Good communication skills and confidence working with both technical teams and clients.

· Experience using project management tools, CRM systems and MRP systems (experience with ProgressPlus desirable).

· Proficient in Microsoft Office.

· Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Development Pathway

This role is designed as a progression route into the Composite Solutions Manager position. Over time, the successful candidate will gain increasing responsibility for:

Leading projects independently
Managing client relationships
Supporting commercial negotiations
Contributing to business development strategy
