BACKGROUND
An exciting opportunity within a long established (1940) metals treatment and processing company. William Rowland Metal Finishing (WRMF) is part of the wider William Rowland/AMC Group of companies based in South Yorkshire.
Our business specialises in chemical etching, phosphating, pickling & passivating, and inspection of parts. WRMF processes components for use within high integrity sectors such as Aerospace, Energy, and Automotive.
Following a recent relocation to larger premises and ongoing investment in the business, WRMF is entering a new phase of growth. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of new processes and capabilities.
We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to manage and develop processes within the business and to carry out trial work on new projects and product lines.
1. PURPOSE OF JOB
Own the development and optimisation of production and inspection processes (including NDT), driving improvements in efficiency, compliance, and commercial performance.
2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Oversee product development for new and existing processes. Carry out regular reviews with management and record outcomes of trials in order to improve WRMF offering to the customer.
Implement a trials database to record development of process routes and potential improvements. Maintain this database and ensure trials are organised and presented in a timely manner with agreed actions.
Liaise with operators regarding current process routes and record key variables within these areas.
Propose product and process developments aligned with commercial strategy, with clear understanding of timelines to commercialisation.
Assess market research materials and sales data to ensure that products are viable and competitive.
Work with other segments of William Rowland e.g. revert alloys to add value to internal business.
Management of documented management system to ensure consistency of quality in accordance with the company's accreditations, such as ISO9001/AS9100, and Nadcap.
Line management of NDT Technician providing day to day support and vision for growing the capability and accreditations of the offering.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and relative research/educational facilities including occasional visits.
3. VISION & CONTEXT
The position exists to manage new and existing processes whilst maintaining business continuity by offering expert advice to business stakeholders.
Maintain and improve the company’s systems to continue its accreditations, such as ISO9001/AS9100 and Nadcap.
This role will improve and develop scaleable solutions to changing requirements in rapidly expanding markets (Nuclear, Additive Manufacturing, Recycling).
Grow business capability by identifying and developing new opportunities aligned with market needs.
This is a hands-on role combining shop-floor engagement with technical development and contribution to business strategy.

Senior Management (WRMF).
Functional Management - for coordination, advice, assistance, reference & policy (WRMF/WR).
Operators – to provide expert guidance for process and quality queries.
Customers and educational facilities (Universities, Research Centres) – to give information, and seek advice.
5. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Working knowledge of NDT methods.
Experience supporting or working within Nadcap-accredited environments (desirable)
Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal).
Numerate with strong analytical and problem solving ability.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to handle more than one project at a time.
Hands on approach with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Good I.T. skills e.g. MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £32,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
