Senior Fabricator / Welder

Location: Burnhouse, Ayrshire
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience + overtime opportunities
Contract type: Full-time, permanent

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Fabricator / Senior Plater to join our growing team in Burnhouse. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of challenging fabrication projects and help set the standard for quality across the workshop.

Key responsibilities include:

Reading and working from engineering drawings and fabrication specifications
Cutting, shaping, and fitting structural and plate steel to tight tolerances
Carrying out advanced fabrication and welding processes (MIG, TIG, flux-core, etc.)
Overseeing and mentoring junior fabricators and apprentices, sharing skills and knowledge
Ensuring work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards
Supporting continuous improvement across the workshop and contributing to team problem-solving

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

Proven experience in fabrication and plating, ideally in heavy or structural steelwork
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Excellent welding and fabrication skills with attention to accuracy and detail
A proactive approach, with the confidence to take the lead on jobs and support colleagues
A commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
Supervisory or mentoring experience is an advantage
Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications or willingness to obtain them
