About Us

City Building provides a range of repairs and maintenance, manufacturing, construction and refurbishment activities for Glasgow City Council and Wheatley Housing Group’s citizens and customers as well as other public, private and third sector organisations.

About the Role

The Operations Inspector provides independent, evidence‑based assurance of service quality, safety and compliance across the organisation’s allocated trade(s) or workstreams including responsibility for inspecting, diagnosing and managing damp and mould cases, ensuring appropriate categorisation, recording and ‘make safe’ actions are undertaken.

As the Operations Inspector you will collaborate closely with Operations Managers and Technical Advisors. Responsibilities include inspection, verification and quality control, reviewing workmanship, materials, documentation and adherence to specifications, method statements, and regulatory requirements. You will plan and carry out pre‑, in‑progress and post‑inspections, documents findings, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to confirm completion.

In this role you will support continuous improvement and help to ensure a right-first-time approach that is safe, compliant, and customer-focused.

What You Will Bring

The Operations Inspector will have proven experience in inspections, quality assurance or verification within repairs, maintenance, construction, facilities or technical services, with strong competence in the relevant allocated trade(s).

You will have a demonstratable track record of applying technical standards, assessing workmanship and compliance, producing evidence‑based reports and tracking close‑out of corrective actions.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and be forward‑thinking in supporting a high‑quality, compliant service delivery through independent inspection and assurance.

You will drive health and safety compliance with your knowledge of relevant industry standards, technical specifications and safe working practices. A broad operational understanding and the ability to represent the organisation professionally are essential.

Qualified in a relevant trade or demonstrable equivalent experience working with trade activities and carrying out inspections, with the ability to assess workmanship and compliance. Formal qualifications are desirable but not essential.

You must hold a full UK driving licence.

This position is fixed term for up to 6 months.
