Job Overview – Fabricator / Machinist
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabricator / Machinist to join our manufacturing team at our Lakenheath factory. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of fabrication and machining equipment to manufacture high-quality components accurately and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical knowledge and experience in fabrication, machining, and assembly processes who is looking to develop their skills within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor fabrication and machining equipment including saws, cutters, shears, slitters, punches, crimpers, and bending machinery
- Review drawings, specifications, samples, and work instructions to ensure accurate production output
- Measure, mark out, and verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment such as calipers
- Select appropriate machinery and materials for each job and plan the sequence of manufacturing operations
- Assemble fabricated components, ensuring all parts are correctly aligned, fitted, and securely fixed
- Monitor machine performance, adjust feeds and settings where required, and identify faults or inconsistencies
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality control standards are achieved and defects are identified and removed
- Maintain production schedules and support efficient workflow within the manufacturing department
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and report any malfunctions or repair requirements
- Adhere to all health & safety procedures, quality standards, and training requirements
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
- Support product development activities and assist with additional factory duties when required
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Fabricator, Machinist, or Mechanical Assembly Operative
- Experience using manual, semi-automated, or automated machinery including lathes and grinders
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and perform accurate calculations
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Physical stamina and ability to carry out repetitive manual tasks
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Positive attitude with a proactive and reliable approach to work
Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent, including Mathematics
- Apprenticeship or vocational training in fabrication, machining, or engineering (preferred)
Additional Requirements

- Access to reliable transport to and from work

Reporting to: Production Manager
Pay: £14.50-£16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
