Full job description

Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The department has around 1000 staff, students and academic visitors working in a number of world-renowned population health research groups to investigate the causes and prevention of disease and lead human health forward.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the department as Clinical and Graduate Studies Officer, providing administrative support across undergraduate clinical teaching and postgraduate programmes within Oxford Population Health. The post holder will coordinate the delivery of population health teaching across the medical curriculum, working closely with senior academics, teaching staff and professional services colleagues. The role will also provide administrative support for the department’s postgraduate programmes, with a particular focus on admissions and on-course administration for the DPhil in Population Health.

You will coordinate the operational delivery of Population Health teaching across Years 1–5 of the medical curriculum, including timetabling, room bookings, liaison with lecturers and tutors, student communications, teaching payments and multi-day teaching events. You will also support medical student research projects, maintain teaching materials and communications on Canvas, prepare evaluation and annual teaching reports, organise teacher training workshops and act as Secretary to teaching committees and team meetings. Alongside this, you will support DPhil student progression and admissions, maintain postgraduate virtual learning environments and student communications, and assist with postgraduate events including induction week and MSc in Clinical Trials residential weeks.

You will have previous relevant administrative experience, including experience of supporting events, courses and/or training programmes. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are essential, together with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines, work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will also have experience in a customer-facing role, strong team-working skills and a high level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office or comparable software and experience of database systems. An understanding of University regulations, experience of website editing or HTML, and experience of e-learning tools would be desirable.

This role is based in Oxford, and offered on a full-time basis. It is a fixed-term post for 2 years.
