The role
As our Protection Pricing Actuary, you’ll take the lead on pricing our protection products and support the development of propositions that are profitable, competitive and aligned to customer needs.
You’ll use your actuarial expertise to analyse protection experience, interpret trends and provide clear, actionable insight that supports decision-making across the business. Alongside this, you’ll work collaboratively with a range of teams to ensure product design, pricing, underwriting and claims approaches are aligned and deliver sustainable value.
This is a varied and visible role, with the opportunity to contribute to business planning, support strategic opportunities, and influence how we continue to evolve our protection offering.
What you’ll be doing

Leading protection pricing activity to maximise the value of new business within agreed parameters

Shaping and developing innovative product propositions

Analysing protection experience and turning it into clear, actionable insights

Reviewing and enhancing product designs to improve commercial outcomes

Collaborating with underwriting and claims teams on pricing-aligned strategies

Supporting the development of reinsurance strategies alongside our insurer partners

Advising on business quality metrics and performance measures

Working with IT and other teams to develop, test and implement systems and product changes

Contributing to business planning and strategic decision-making

Presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership and Board-level forums

Supporting analysis of mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships

Peer reviewing work across the actuarial team

Identifying and managing risks in line with our risk framework
What we’re looking for
Essential

Qualified actuary

Experience in pricing or product development

Strong technical actuarial capability

Ability to apply judgement in both actuarial and business contexts

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills

You’re a qualified actuary with the confidence to balance technical depth with commercial thinking. You bring a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset and are comfortable working with senior stakeholders to influence decisions and move things forward. You take ownership of delivering fair customer outcomes and working in line with regulatory expectations, including Customer Duty and FCA Conduct Rules.
