E-Commerce Manager
About pampeano
pampeano is a premium, handcrafted leather goods brand focused on quality, longevity, hand-craft and customer service. Founded in 2008, every piece is hand-stitched using traditional techniques and finished with the brand's signature colourful threads, from its hero pampeano belts to travel bags, washbags, small leather goods and dog accessories. What began as a heritage craft brand has grown into a multi-channel business with a loyal direct-to-consumer customer base alongside wholesale partnerships including John Lewis, Harrods, Nordstrom, Care of Carl, Follestad and El Corte Inglés. Average order value has risen every year, and demand for the brand is strong and growing.
The Role
As pampeano's first dedicated Ecommerce Manager, the successful candidate will manage the Shopify store end to end: the trading, the data, the customer journey and the day-to-day decisions that grow revenue. The candidate is the central commercial point of accountability who keeps paid media, CRM, organic and the site working as one cohesive message, so the traffic the brand pays to drive converts effectively. A paid media specialist remains in place for technical campaign setup, and support from the Advisory Agency assists with growth strategy and an execution plan, but the candidate is the person in the weeds making it happen. This is a genuine self-starter role for someone who wants to build, not just maintain.
Key Responsibilities
The DTC site (Shopify)
- Own the day-to-day running of the Shopify store: user experience, product pages, site speed and conversion rate optimisation, with a mobile-first focus given the majority of traffic.
- Continuously test and improve the customer journey from landing to checkout, recovering conversion as paid traffic scales.
- Treat conversion rate as the number that changes the economics of the whole business, and protect it relentlessly. Lead the brief and build for a website redesign where it will move conversion.
Trading, merchandising and stock
- Run the promotional calendar, range presentation and on-site merchandising to grow average order value and revenue, surfacing the brand's proven levers of bundling and personalisation.
- Plan and execute product launches on-site, working cross-functionally with brand, product and operations, keeping a healthy cadence of newness live and well-merchandised across belts, bags, small leather goods and dog accessories.
- Monitor stock availability as a core workstream: flag broken size runs, particularly across belt sizing, and out-of-stock product that is being actively marketed, and quantify the conversion drag it causes.
Paid media coordination
- Act as the commercial owner of the paid relationship across Google, Meta and Microsoft, and TikTok where relevant, briefing and holding the specialist or agency to account on ROAS and, above all, contribution after marketing (GP3).
- Challenge platform-reported returns and push for true, incremental performance, including incrementality testing where the numbers warrant it.
- Establish and document the trading baseline, monitor spend efficiency daily, and raise the flag early when efficiency drops.
- Ensure paid activity is cohesive with what is live on site and in CRM, so spend is never driving traffic to product the brand cannot convert or fulfil.
Retention and CRM
- Own email and CRM in Klaviyo: lifecycle flows, segmentation and campaigns, with a relentless focus on repeat purchase rate.
- Optimise retention flows, including winback and post-purchase, and lift email from roughly a fifth of revenue toward a 25 to 33% target.
- Fix deliverability and click-through performance.
Marketplace, social commerce and affiliate
- Implement and develop TikTok shop and social commerce in a way that grows reach without eroding margin.
- Support the implementation of, and grow. the affiliate and influencer programme, and make sure earned and influencer content is put to work commercially across the site and channels.
Analytics and reporting
- Own weekly trading reporting and the numbers behind it: spend, ROAS, GP1 to GP3, AOV and conversion, using GA4 and Shopify analytics to make confident, data-led decisions.
- Build on the existing weekly KPI tracker, tighten attribution following recent tracking changes, and bring clear recommendations to the founder and growth team.
About You
Essential
- Proven experience as an Ecommerce Manager, Trading Manager, Ecommerce Executive or similar within a consumer brand.
- Strong Shopify experience, with the confidence to own and optimise a DTC site independently.
- Commercial ownership of paid media: able to brief, challenge and hold an agency or specialist to account on ROAS and contribution across Google, Meta and Microsoft (no need to be the hands-on campaign builder).
- Email and CRM experience, ideally Klaviyo: flows, segmentation and improving revenue share.
- A strong analytical mindset, with real experience using GA4 and Shopify analytics to drive decisions and report on contribution (GP1 to GP3), not just top-line revenue.
- Commercially minded, organised and proactive, with a genuine self-starter attitude.
Nice to have
- Experience in premium or luxury goods, fashion, accessories or another high-growth, founder-led brand.
- Experience in a blended DTC, marketplace and wholesale business, coordinating launches across channels.
- Experience setting up or improving processes and reporting in a fast-moving business.
- Familiarity with CRM and analytics tools such as Klaviyo, Triple Whale, Leaf or similar.
- Awareness of marketplace, affiliate and social commerce: John Lewis, Next, Clarks or other marketplaces, affiliate platforms, and where TikTok Shop and social commerce are heading.
The Person
pampeano is a small, hard-working and close-knit team, and culture matters. The business hires for work ethic, intelligence and common sense. The right person grabs an opportunity with both hands and runs with it, and just as importantly, is the one person who is always on it.
- A self-starter who is happy to own an area, set their own direction and create the processes that do not yet exist.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and the realities of a business growing quickly, where not everything is built yet.
- Trustworthy and accountable, with the judgement to know what matters and the drive to just get it done.
- A clear communicator who keeps internal teams and external partners aligned, and surfaces problems early rather than putting a positive spin on them.
- Collaborative and commercially curious, always asking how to grow performance from here.
pampeano is an equal opportunities employer, celebrates diversity and is committed to building an inclusive team where everyone can do their best work.
