About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our busy and established aerospace manufacturing team, based in Loughborough. In this role, you will be responsible for the introduction and management of new products and projects, while developing and optimising manufacturing processes across a range of advanced machining technologies.
Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Teams, Quality Personnel, and Customers, you will deliver innovative engineering solutions that support operational excellence, product quality, and on-time project delivery. Strong experience with Siemens NX CAD/CAM and manufacturing process development is highly desirable for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in accordance with ISO, AS, and company standards and procedures.
- Manage engineering projects independently, collaborating with the wider team to ensure successful project delivery.
- Design and develop manufacturing process plans, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Design bespoke jigs, fixtures, and tooling solutions to support manufacturing operations.
- Produce high-quality 3D models and technical drawings, including GD&T, for internal and external use.
- Create and optimise offline CNC programs for milling, turning, mill-turn, laser, and WEDM machining centres using Siemens NX CAM.
- Work closely with production teams to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Apply core quality tools, including APQP, FMEA, and MSA, to support process development and continuous improvement activities.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support problem-solving activities, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation throughout all stages of development.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong CAD/CAM experience, ideally using Siemens NX.
- Experience creating engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles.
- Understanding of project management techniques and tools.
- Knowledge of aerospace and manufacturing quality standards and methodologies, including APQP, FMEA, and MSA.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites when required.
