Sushi Chef – Unagi

At Unagi, we’re passionate about creating memorable dining experiences through fresh flavours, creativity, and exceptional hospitality. We’re looking for a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our kitchen team and help bring our vibrant Pan-Asian menu to life.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in their craft, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to be part of a team that values quality, innovation, and consistency.

What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes to Unagi’s presentation and flavour standards
Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient sushi section at all times
Working with fresh ingredients and ensuring excellent food quality and stock rotation
Bringing creativity to the kitchen through new ideas, specials, and menu development
Supporting smooth kitchen service during busy periods alongside the wider team
Monitoring consistency, portion control, and presentation across all dishes
Following all food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety procedures
Helping minimise waste and maintain strong kitchen organisation

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar Japanese cuisine role
Strong sushi preparation skills and confidence working with fresh fish and ingredients
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail
Passion for food, creativity, and continuous improvement
Ability to stay calm and organised under pressure
Team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills
Good understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
Formal culinary training is a bonus, but passion and experience matter most
