Fabricator Welder
Gray Fabrication is currently looking to fill two Modern Apprenticeship positions. We are a family owned Steel Fabrication company servicing the Energy sectors for over 40 years, specialising in the rolling, bending and pressing of heavy plate. As an apprentice with Gray Fabrication, you will be joining a long-established organisation where you will be provided with training and support to develop valuable skills, earn qualifications and the opportunity to establish yourself as a valued member of the Company.
About the Role:
The programme will follow the Apprenticeship Framework supporting you in working towards completing a Modern Apprenticeship SVQ Level 7 Fabricator welder. You will fabricate metal structures, work with structural and sheet metal, and use cutting, bending, and assembling processes. You will learn how to operate plate rolling machines and press brakes. Additionally, you’ll gain experience in welding learning various welding processes and techniques while developing a comprehensive understanding of welding. Year 1 is predominantly based at Fife college, focusing on achieving the National Certificate (NC) in Fabrication and Welding Level 2. This foundational year equips you with essential knowledge and technical skills for the workplace. From your second year onwards, you will further develop your skills in our Cupar workshops. This phase is designed to help you apply what you’ve learned in a practical setting, providing valuable real-world experience. During this year, apprentices are also invited to apply for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualification. If successful, you’ll attend college one day per week throughout the third and fourth years of your apprenticeship.
Key Requirements:
- National 5’s in English & Maths at C and above. A science/tech subject would be advantageous.
- Or an NC or equivalent.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and to multitask required
- Candidates should have a strong work ethic, be reliable, conscientious and enjoy working as part of a team.
