As a Customer Service Officer, you will play a vital role in helping residents develop and improve their digital skills. The purpose of the role is to provide support that promotes digital inclusion and ensures our communities can confidently access, navigate and benefit from the online world. Whilst this post will primarily support digital activities, it may also involve wider frontline service delivery.
Key responsibilities
Support the delivery of one-to-one and drop-in digital support sessions across our communities
Support residents to be able to use technology to access essential online services (e.g. email, online forms, Council services, job searches)
Facilitate independent learning in libraries using resources such as ‘Learn My Way’
Promote online safety, particularly for vulnerable customers
Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and partners
Raising awareness of digital tools available through Libraries to our communities/customers and staff awareness
Support the provision of device lending programs
Signpost residents to additional services, training opportunities or specialist support where appropriate
Maintain accurate records of training, support and advice given
Skills/experience
Strong digital skills are essential
Library experience or knowledge preferred
Experience of communicating effectively with people of diverse ages and backgrounds and digital abilities
Experience of using a wide range of digital tools, including Microsoft Office and digital devices
Ability to collect accurate statistics and customer feedback
Understand online safety and be able to support residents to stay safe online
We are recruiting to 2 roles; 1 based in North Kirklees, 1 based in South Kirklees.
These posts will work an average of 30 hours per week, but you will need to be able to work flexibly in terms of location working across the service as required and your working hours may vary depending on need and this could regularly involve evening and weekends.
